PLAYDECIDE Game at Nemo

Introduction
Science Center NEMO is currently involved in a European funded project (PLACES), a collaborative project of 69 city partnerships. The overall aim of this project is to enhance the three way communication between science, policy makers and society in Europe to eventually build cities of scientific culture. As part of this project a pilot activity took place in the form of a discussion card game on Smart Cities.
The objective for the participating students was to find out what the Smart City topic comprises and to learn how to debate. The objective for the professionals was to exchange information on the topic with a young group of people and look at the different aspects of the topic from another perspective.

On the 30th of May 2013, this game was first played by 60 students from various schools in Amsterdam and 30 professionals that attended the Smart City Event 2013. Participants also had the chance to visit the Innovation Gallery in Science Centre NEMO, an exhibition area currently dedicated to the themes of Smart Light, Electric Vehicles and Smart Energy.

Results
The results of the game are tracked in an online database. The game is currently part of the activities at NEMO. It is also possible to download the Play Decide Game and play it yourself.
